This is a very
pretty poster with vibrating colors. It's also one of the long
Wes Wilson ones, of which he did several.
This is November
1966, and the atmosphere in San Francisco, and the Haight in particular,
was electric. What was also nice about it was that the media hadn't
yet discovered what was going on (that didn't happen til the summer
of '67). When they did, it brought people from all over who just
wanted to plug in and be hip, and weren't part of the culture
that was developing there. It got diluted and polluted, and fell
apart rapidly. I'm amazed that Haight street even today, is still
trying to hang on to that ephemeral "thing" that had
completely disappeared by 1970.
From the end
of '65 to the end of 1968 was the golden period in the psychedelic
Haight Ashbury. Such a short time, yet so full of riches. And
so full of promise.
Staple holes,
a little ragged top and bottom, but excellent condition (and will
look perfect when mounted and framed).
