I take it the
dude on the poster is Charles Lloyd, 'cause it certainly ain't
Paul Butterfield!
This is a great
classic Wes Wilson effort of this period (just before he took
off and began to really sail).
I went to this
gig because I loved Butterfield, but I passed on Charlie because
he was a jazzer...not my style at all. I walked in when Butterfield
was setting up. Funky Jack and Funky Sam came along as well.
I think Bill
Graham loved jazz, and he always tried to sneak jazz groups into
his bills, but no one who went to these concerts was really interested.
Jazz is a "head" thing, and rock and blues is a "heart"
and "soul" thing. Oh, yeah....and a crotch thing as
well, of course.

a tiny bit rough, but perfect condition, really.
