Victor Moscoso
and Bob Fried both played around with multiple, double-exposed
photographic and graphic images to simulate light show images.
I love this poster, it combines several design elements seamlessly:
Moscoso's great sense of color, his unique lettering, the combination
of a "straight" photo combined with a flashy, abstract
image in the background. This kind of stuff is easy to pull off
today with computers, but when you are working in black and white
(and almost ALL these posters were rendered in black and white
"mechanicals" which were then each assigned a color
in the four color process) and everything had to be done on layers
of film, then composited....it wasn't so easy to do (especially
under a time crunch and very small budgets).
Just as movies
made in the early 20th century give us a real look at what living
conditions were like then, so this poster with its photo of the
band "captures" what these guys looked like and what
they wore....giving us a little peek into how people dressed during
that time. A little bit of pictorial history, if you will.
A beautiful
piece of work...exceptional.
Staple holes, excellent/perfect
condition.
